Former ManOwaR Guitarist Ross The Boss Celebrates the Silver Edition of
"Battle Hymns"
For the first time in nearly twelve years, Ross The Boss visited Haus Wahn Fried
studio. Although the former ManOwaR guitarist was in town on June 9, 2001, to
sign copies of the newly released Silver Edition of Battle Hymns, he used the
opportunity to reminisce with Joey, Eric, and Scott and talk shop with Karl.
"The Silver Edition of Battle Hymns is finally in my hands and it looks and sounds
great," beamed Ross. "I am proud to have been a part of this. I am now looking
forward to release of Into Glory Ride and Hail to England (the Silver Edition)."
Original ManOwaR Drummer Donnie Hamzik Anticipates the Silver Edition of
"Battle Hymns"
"Among my favorite Battle Hymns songs are "Battle Hymn" and "Dark Avenger,"
says original ManOwaR drummer Donnie Hamzik. "Battle Hymn is a classic tune.
Eric's vocals still gives me goose bumps. I love "Dark Avenger" for Orson Welles'
narration and the double bass (drum) part during the second half of the song.
We recorded at Criteria Studios (now the Hit Factory) in Miami at night. Although I
figured it was because we were night people, it turned out that Aerosmith was
recording (Between a Rock and a Hard Place) during the day in the studio next to us
and complained that they could hear us when we played. There was quite a bit of
talk around Criteria about how unbelievably loud the band in studio E was.
I was in a music store last year and looked through ManOwaR's slot. I was
disappointed that Battle Hymns was not available on CD. I am now excited (however)
about the Silver Edition of Battle Hymns. It looks and sounds better than ever."
